Jovoy Paris Fire at Will Eau de Parfum is a vanilla and brown sugar amber fragrance composed by Vanina Muracciole and released in 2021. It opens directly on vanilla softened by mimosa, deepens into brown sugar in the heart, and settles on a base of musk, amber and vetiver. It is unisex, comes in a 75 ml (2.5 oz) bottle, and is the sweetest, densest scent in the Jovoy Paris line.

What Does Jovoy Fire at Will Smell Like?

Fire at Will starts where most vanilla perfumes finish. There is no bright citrus opening to get through first: the vanilla is there from the first spray, paired with mimosa, a yellow spring flower whose scent is soft, powdery and faintly like honey. Mimosa keeps the opening from smelling like baking extract and gives the vanilla a floral, slightly suede-like texture.

After about twenty minutes the brown sugar comes forward. Brown sugar in perfumery is darker than caramel, closer to molasses, with a light toasted edge. Layered over more vanilla it reads warm and enveloping rather than sugary, because there is no fruit, chocolate or coffee in the formula to push it into dessert territory.

The dry down is where the composition shows its skill. Vetiver, a grass root with a dry, earthy and slightly smoky smell, sits under the sweetness and keeps it from turning flat. Musk brings the scent close to the skin and amber adds a resinous warmth. Expect six to eight hours of wear, with strong projection for the first couple of hours and a soft, sweet-woody skin scent after that.

Who Created Fire at Will?

Fire at Will was composed by Vanina Muracciole, a Paris-based independent perfumer trained at ISIPCA in Versailles who began her career at MANE before going independent in 2012. For Jovoy she also wrote Aqua Memorabilis (2024), a dry clementine citrus, so the same perfumer is behind both the sweetest and the freshest fragrances in the house. Jovoy works like a publisher: founder and artistic director François Hénin writes a brief, then commissions an independent perfumer to answer it.

Who Is Fire at Will For?

This is a vanilla for people who want the note taken seriously. If popular gourmand vanillas feel too edible or fade too quickly on you, Fire at Will is denser and more grown-up, with brown sugar for body and vetiver for structure. It is sold as unisex; vanilla often reads a touch feminine on skin, but nothing in the pyramid is gendered. If you dislike sweet fragrances, choose something else: there is no stage of the wear where it stops being sweet.

When to Wear Fire at Will

Fire at Will is an autumn and winter fragrance, at its best in the evening. Cold air carries sweet ambers well and keeps the sugar from feeling heavy, so it suits dinners, date nights, evenings out and cold weekend days. In summer heat it becomes dense quickly, and one spray applied low on the body is enough. In any season two sprays is plenty; over-application is the usual reason vanillas this rich feel cloying.
